Expected yield & profit potential
Long-term income from a single planting
A mature grafted tree produces 600 – 1,000 fruits per year. At 160 trees per acre, farmers earn KSh 250,000 – 500,000 per acre annually at farm-gate prices, with higher returns for retail and supermarket supply.
Planting & care tips
- ✓Water deeply once a week during dry spells — citrus hates drought stress at flowering.
- ✓Top-dress with CAN twice a year and add a debe of well-rotted manure annually.
- ✓Spray copper preventively at the start of rains to control citrus canker and greasy spot.
- ✓Remove rootstock suckers monthly to keep all growth above the graft union.
Frequently asked questions
Where in Kenya can I grow Grafted Tangerine?+
Grafted Tangerine performs best in Machakos, Makueni, Embu, Meru and similar zones at sea level to 1,800m above sea level. If you're unsure about your area, send us your location on WhatsApp and we'll confirm suitability before you order.
How long before my Grafted Tangerine seedling starts fruiting?+
Because it is grafted from a proven mother tree, expect 2–3 years to first commercial harvest. Grafted seedlings fruit much earlier than seed-grown trees and stay true to variety.
How often should I water a young Grafted Tangerine seedling?+
Water deeply twice a week for the first three months, then once a week through the first dry season. Mulch heavily around the base to lock in moisture and reduce watering needs.
Do I need more than one tree for pollination?+
Grafted Tangerine produces well as a single tree, but planting 2 or more nearby improves fruit set and total yield. Most of our customers plant a block for better economics and easier management.
Do you deliver Grafted Tangerine seedlings countrywide?+
Yes — Green Sprout Seedlings delivers nationwide via courier and direct transport. Share your order quantity and location on WhatsApp and we'll quote delivery before you pay.
